Teen Skin Care

Teen acne and how it affects your teen?

As adolescents navigate the journey through their teenage years, they often encounter a variety of challenges, from academic pressures to social dynamics. However, one of the most common and frustrating issues that many teens face is acne.

Acne can have a profound impact on a teenager’s self-esteem, leading to feelings of insecurity and embarrassment. There are many acne treatment products that can clear your teen’s skin. However, despite advertising claims, even the most effective products won’t work magic overnight. They won’t cure acne, either. We love helping teens discover that root cause which can help them keep blemish free skin for years to come. Unfortunately, sometimes acne can leave hyperpigmentation behind. After a pimple heals, it can leave behind a dark spot, which is a form of hyperpigmentation.

For teens, this can be particularly concerning as it affects their appearance during a time when they’re very conscious about how they look. It’s important to know that hyperpigmentation is not harmful and is quite common. While it may fade over time, some spots can be persistent, especially if the original acne was severe.

At Serving Faces Spa, we address hyperpigmentation by providing treatments that can help fade these dark spots. We use facials that include ingredients known to lighten hyperpigmentation, such as Vitamin C, azelaic acid, and niacinamide, amongst others.

Your teen’s facial will be uniquely geared toward meeting their individual needs and keeping their skin healthy.  The esthetician will likely start by asking about your teen’s skincare routine and current acne treatments. Next, the skin is exfoliated to loosen and remove the dry surface-level skin cells. In most cases, steam will be used to soften and open pores, so the esthetician can perform gentle extractions without harm to the skin. This helps to clear up the skin, so your teen will see that immediate improvement.

Next, a mask is applied to the face. These facial masks are completely customized to your teen’s needs. The mask will be left in place for a specific period of time, depending on the purpose of the treatment and ingredients used. The esthetician will finish treatments with target serums and SPF.

There will be a conversation about skin care routine at home and make recommendation specific products and will also explain the ingredients in those products and their benefits as part of a skincare routine. If the skin care recommendations ever conflict with the treatment plan from a dermatologist, it is suggested to schedule an appointment to discuss changes with your dermatologist before starting a new routine. Serving Faces goal is to get all clients off prescribed acne medication. So far, we have had 95% success rate with ending our client’s relationship with harsh, ineffective medication.

Understanding that consistent care is crucial, its is recommend that teens experiencing acne schedule appointments on a bi-weekly basis. This allows your esthetician to address acne proactively and adjust treatments as needed. Every two weeks, teens will receive a results-driven treatment, tailored to their unique concerns such as acne and hyperpigmentation. Regular visits enable the esthetician to perform timely extractions and manage breakouts effectively, rather than waiting for monthly or sporadic appointments.

The goal is to work in harmony with teens and their parents, crafting a treatment plan that includes essential skincare tips and hacks to achieve and maintain healthy, blemish-free skin.
