Chemical Peel Process
A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing procedure. Depending on the issues you’re addressing, you’ll choose the chemical peel that is right for you in one of three depths:
- Light chemical peel. A light (superficial) chemical peel removes the outer layer of skin (epidermis). It’s used to treat fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone, and dryness. To increase it’s effectiveness, you might have a light peel every two to five weeks.
- Medium chemical peel. A medium chemical peel removes skin cells from the epidermis and from portions of the upper part of your middle layer of the skin (dermis). It’s used to treat wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. You might need to repeat the procedure to achieve or maintain the desired result.
- Deep chemical peel. A deep chemical peel removes skin cells even deeper. Your doctor might recommend one for deeper wrinkles, scars, or precancerous growths. You won’t need to repeat this procedure to get the full effect.
Precaution
- Please note your esthetician may recommend a patch test for some peels.
- This treatment may cause increased sensitivity to the skin depending on the skin type and home care regimen. Side effects may include but are not limited to stinging, itching or irritation, redness, swelling, tightness, peeling, and scabbing of the skin.
- Avoid the sun, tanning beds, sweating, exercising, hot baths or showers, scrubbing, picking, and rubbing, all of which can lead to scarring.
- Avoid waxing or depilatories 48 hours before and seven days after treatment.
- Discontinue the use of exfoliating scrubs, glycolic acid, or benzoyl peroxide products for at least 24 hours before and after treatment.
- Discontinue the use of prescription Vitamin A Keratolytic drugs seven days before and after treatment.
- A broad-spectrum sunscreen is recommended daily before and after treatment.
- A Post-treatment Kit is mandatory following every peeling treatment.

The Chemical Peel Process: Unlock Your Skin’s Potential
A chemical peel is a transformative technique, targeting skin texture improvement and scarring reduction. This resurfacing procedure removes outer skin layers, inducing controlled injury for the regeneration of new tissues. Depending on your concerns, choose from three peel depths:
- Light Chemical Peel: Targets fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone, and dryness. Schedule light peels every two to five weeks for enhanced effectiveness.
- Medium Chemical Peel: Addresses wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone by removing skin cells from the epidermis and upper dermis. Procedure repetition may be required for optimal results.
- Deep Chemical Peel: Removes skin cells even deeper, recommended for deeper wrinkles, scars, and precancerous growths. Full effect achieved without the need for repeated procedures.
Precautions for a Radiant Glow:
Before undergoing a chemical peel, consider the following precautions:
- Patch Test: Some peels may require a patch test for compatibility.
- Increased Sensitivity: Expect heightened sensitivity based on skin type and home care regimen.
- Possible Side Effects: Stinging, itching, redness, swelling, tightness, peeling, and scabbing are potential side effects.
- Avoidance: Sun exposure, tanning beds, sweating, exercising, hot baths or showers, scrubbing, picking, rubbing, waxing, or depilatories.
- Product Discontinuation: Cease use of exfoliating scrubs, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and prescription Vitamin A Keratolytic drugs before and after treatment.
- Sunscreen: Daily application of broad-spectrum sunscreen is recommended.
- Post-Treatment Kit: Mandatory following each peeling session.
